Ancient Sitka Spruce

SOUNDBOARD

There is a reason why this soundboard is reserved solely for the pinnacle of our guitars, The Legacy series. At nearly 3,000 years old, this spruce is truly incredible to behold and to hear in a finished guitar, and comes complete with a carbon dating certificate.

Alaskan

Sitka Spruce

SOUNDBOARD

Not to be outdone by other spruce varieties, Alaskan Sitka spruce is a wonderfully versatile soundboard material that provides that classic acoustic guitar look of a beautiful straight grain top.

black and white ebony.png

Black & White Ebony

BACK & SIDES, FINGERBOARD, BODY CAP

An inspiring wood to look at, and no two are alike. We favour this tonewood on our high-end acoustic's because it looks and sounds the business.

macassar ebony.png

Macassar Ebony

BACK & SIDES, FINGERBOARD, BODY CAP

A mix of light and dark browns can often be found in this tonewood, however, we are fortunate to have the rarer darker sets. An all-rounder much like rosewood, Macassar Ebony also has the tendency to continue to evolve over the years.

quilted maple.png

Quilted Big-Leaf Maple

BACK & SIDES, FINGERBOARD, BODY CAP,

ELECTRIC BODY

The undulating waves of quilted maple give the impression of a wonderfully smooth velvet sheet and is an absolute joy to see and hear. Being a maple, it is on the brighter side tonally, and so can often be used as an electric body cap to create a well-balanced sound.

indian rosewood.png

Indian Rosewood

BACK & SIDES, FINGERBOARD, BODY CAP

You may know Indian rosewood as just the straight-grained variety, but fortunately, we have a number of sets featuring intriguing and bewitching swirls and patterns. Tonally it is a rock-solid choice as has been demonstrated over the many decades of guitar making.

ash.jpg

Swamp Ash

ELECTRIC BODY

Guitars don't need to be heavy to have excellent tone and sustain, as this incredibly light tonewood proves. It has a wonderful grain pattern that you can show off, and being so light it is the ultimate partner for long gigs.

malaysian-blackwood-sealed.jpg

Malaysian Blackwood

BACK & SIDES, BODY CAP

With a subtle yet classy two-tone colour scheme that blends chocolatey browns with caramel, Malaysian Blackwood is a glassy tonewood that maintains excellent sustain thanks to its rigidity.

sinker redwood.png

Sinker Redwood

SOUNDBOARD

As the name suggests, Sinker Redwood is reclaimed from trunks that found their way to the bottom of rivers a few hundred years ago. Luckily for us, they were found because this is an exceptional soundboard material which has warmth and clarity in equal measures.

'The Tree' Highly Quilted Mahogany

BACK & SIDES, BODY CAP

There is much mystery and myth that surrounds the origin of 'The Tree' and it's exquisite highly quilted mahogany. This prized tonewood which is comparable to Brazilian Rosewood in all of the right ways, and looks incredible.

cocobolo.png

Cocobolo

A lovely rich brown palette accompanies Cocobolo, and this increasingly difficult to acquire wood has excellent rigidity, a good marker for acoustic projection and tonal clarity.

quilted mahog.png

Quilted Mahogany

Mahogany has long been associated with quality and luxury, and quilted mahogany takes this to another level. Expect tones on the warmer side of things, perfect for that vintage feel.

braz kingwood.png

Brazilian Kingwood

BACK & SIDES, FINGERBOARD, VENEER

Kingwood is a true rosewood from the Dalbergia cearensis genus, which gives it substantial credibility as a tonewood. When used in an acoustic guitar expect elegant looks matched equally by elegant, smooth tone.

Not all Mahogany is the same, and we are proud to use only old-growth Honduran Mahogany because of its excellent stability and warmth.

Very similar to the light and open Swamp Ash, Alder has a pleasant pronounced mid-section whilst also accommodating for bright highs and well-rounded lows.

An excellent choice for a fingerboard as it brings sophistication and texture like no other.

ziricote 2.png

Ziricote

BACK & SIDES, FINGERBOARD, BODY CAP

Each piece of Ziricote looks like a carefully made sculpture and is a favourite of ours when used as either a cap for an electric or back & sides for an acoustic. A guitar with this tonewood certainly won't be lacking in bass or clarity.

bocote.png

Bocote

BACK & SIDES, FINGERBOARD, BODY CAP

Warm in appearance and also tonally, Bocote hails from Mexico & South America. The intricate tight patterns make it an excellent choice for an electric guitar body cap or acoustic guitar back & sides.

Our figured blackwood hails from the Otway Ranges and is the pride and joy of Australian tonewoods. Featuring exquisite tight flame and a deep burnt orange colour it produces tones that are lively without being too bright.
